DSLR Camera Advice

Postby morgand on Fri Jan 29, 2010 1:33 pm

Hi All,
It has been such a long time since I have been on, I lost my links. :( Anyway, I wanted to turn to some great photographers and trusted advisors (all of you!) for help on this.

I am at a point where I can afford a DSLR and am seriously looking into it. I was wondering your opinions. I am thinking of either a Canon, Nikon, or Sony. I have looked at the specs of them, and like all of them. I was just wondering the pros and cons in your eyes.

Thanks!
Morgan

I am very happy with my "middle high" Canon [but will probably upgrade when I get some $$ together], and my wife is very happy with her Canon SpeedShot. Jerry

Thank You everyone for your help. I have been checking the reviews almost daily, comparing and contrasting the different cameras. I am going to go to the store that has all of the ones I am looking at and test them out a bit before making my final decision.

I knew I could count on all of you for help. Thanks So Much.

Now for the money to get here (darn waiting!)

I did it! I bought the camera!
Its a Nikon d5000 with the 18-55 lens. I also got the 55-200 lens with it.
But, I haven't taken them out of the box yet. The purchase was a shock to my system. I couldn't (and still can't) believe that I actually did it. I was tempted (in my shocked state) to take it all back. But, I know I won't.
I just have to get over that inital shock and get it out, charge it up, and go shoot some photos. I have looked online at some photos taken in my area and think "I can do that!" Now, if all this darn snow would go away, I could go explore and take even more pictures!

Thanks Again everyone! The sites for reviews really helped.
